I had a 12-day vacation at the end of 2008.   That’s the longest I’d been on vacation in years.

I’ve decided to make this gift of freedom count. I did not to shave for 12 days. It was my longest period of being unshaven. I think my previous record was around five days.

I took a picture of myself each day to track the beard’s progress.

Nothing remarkable today. Still dealing with a cold. It feels like I’ll lose my voice.

I have a cold. At least I didn’t have to shave today.

Some minor itchiness on the neck.

No connection between lip and chin. No itchiness, thus far.

It’s really growing well now. There’s one small dead spot on the underside of my right jawbone, but not really noticeable.

My disguise isn’t working though. A nice guy recognized me at the airport today.

It’s noticeable today. Friends who haven’t seen me in a week are commenting on my “scruffiness.”

It has grown out enough that it feels odd. I started rubbing it today.
