Perhaps you were among the thousands trying to watch the video of KRAP Action News, but to no avail. It now has been replaced with a higher quality version, right here.

Back to normal

Nice to see that things are getting back to normal in New Orleans. It's the 205th murder in New Orleans this year.

Surgery in Calcutta

I read this on the wire today and thought, "If I were having eye surgery in Calcutta, the possibility of ants eating my eye probably would cross my mind."

Reprinted without permission. Sorry, AP.

NEW DELHI (AP) -- A woman died in a Calcutta hospital after ants ate one of her eyes as she was recovering from a cornea operation, media reports said Tuesday.

Gauri Chakraborty, 55, had complained of terrible pain after the operation at a state-run hospital, but a nurse told her it was normal and left her unattended, her son Soumen told the Press Trust of India news agency.

He said that when her bandage was removed the next day they found big black ants nibbling at her eye, PTI reported.

"She died a ghastly death. We don't even know the reason of her death," Amitabha Kar, Chakraborty's son-in-law told PTI.

Local Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra demanded a report of the incident from the hospital authorities. In response, hospital superintendent Sukumar Das said a five-member inquiry committee has been set up, PTI reported.

November

Oh, how nice it all is. This is the tree outside my bedroom window (a little clue for you stalkers). When the sun shines in the morning, the light reflects off the leaves, making my bedroom and bathroom glow orange. It's marvelous and temporary, and I love it.

It has been a few weeks since I've filed anything. Life has been big and good and busy. Life is so pleasant that it is hard to create art right now.

I'm re-interested in this Web site. I'm going to conjure a new design here before long. At a gathering this weekend, a girl saw my site and said the picture up in the left-hand corner "doesn't do [me] justice." I think she has astigmatism or was tipsy.

Watch for a new Picture Storybook soon. There has only been one in the history of this site and that was in 2003. You'd think I'd nourish the franchise.

After some careful consideration, I'm allowing people to leave comments on the blog. This indicates a significant reduction in my elitism. I only ask of you one thing: Have some class.

The workhorse of my dreams, KRAP Radio, went away last month. Twenty dollars a month seemed like a lot for me to pay -- subsidizing something relatively few people ever heard. If you were among the 5,999,999,975 who never heard it, it was just a mish-mash of different kinds of music. Noble in its high concept, but eminently unlistenable. Very few people are willing to be schizoid radio listeners. Very few people will stick with you when it's Willie Nelson's "City of New Orleans," followed by Diana Ross' "Chain Reaction," followed by something from Wagner. I mean, really.

But there's a chance KRAP will come back with a new format some day. So, fans, hold on to those KRAP t-shirts.

My hair is at that difficult length. It's no longer comfortable in its style and begs for something new. It's asynchronous growth. My hair is like a gangly teenager whose shoes are too big for his legs.

It's almost 2 p.m., and I'm wondering if I should go to work 45 minutes early today. Why not?

I love you, blog!
