I want it

I want it

I really want one of these circa 1979 WTVD stickers. For being 26 years old, they are remarkably prevalent. This one is on some kind of locked wooden box in the janitorial closet. The other two I've seen have been affixed to trash cans. I dare not remove them.

Remiss!

I'm sorry I've neglected you, blog. But what have you done for me lately?

Well, I've been desperately ill for a week. Some kind of hell-cold. I lost my voice. I sound like an unemployed "Little Rascal" -- or someone who slid out of an iron lung. I'm slowly getting better, though.

I spent the weekend (see below) sitting around on my neck, watching TV. Pshaw. Actually, all of the "Murder, She Wrotes" were good. I want to see more about how Jessica Fletcher bums rides off of everyone. She doesn't drive, you know.

"T.J. Hooker" was quite good. He fought a man on the skid of a helicopter over the ocean.

They aired a "Match Game '73" this weekend. Most that I've seen recently have been from '77 and '78. The '73 was very early in the show's history, and everything was just a little off. It was like dreaming about "Match Game."

"Mythbusters" is great television. I loved every frame of it. I think those guys are legitimate.

Is Comedy Central's "Distraction" game show legitimate? I didn't see an appeal for contestants, which makes me worry. Knowing the truth is the difference between liking or hating it.

Well, I slept last night without Nyquil, and I take this as a hopeful sign. I shall pick up the keyboard and slay the days of my life. I love you, blog.

Instead of watching the Super Bowl...

Look at the Picture Storybook. It's good for your eyes.

Feelings of insecurity -- or just too much popcorn recently?

I dreamed last night that my teeth fell out while I was driving down a busy interstate. I was much more concerned with saving my teeth and getting to the dentist.

I ambled over to the passenger seat and looked around the driver-side floorboard. I saw lots of white things that looked like teeth -- but when I picked them up, they were just popcorn.

I think this is the result of eating a lot of popcorn in the past couple of weeks (Act II Kettle Corn Mini Bags [only 110 calories per bag, 15 fat calories]).

Southern comfort

Southern comfort

In my continuing effort to prevent people from moving to this area, this is the South in winter: Rain and 34 degrees.

Winter wonderland

On this rainy Thursday in February, I saw two homeless men standing at the corner of Main and Dillard in downtown Durham.  They were arguing over a cigarette or an umbrella.  The man with the umbrella apparently convinced the man with the cigarette to let him have a drag.  The umbrella man promptly walked down the street.  After a moment, the cigarette man followed quickly.

Last seen walking east along Main Street.

Former maggot dies

I stood tonight near the trash can in the breakroom.  The microwave was boiling my Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken.  The timer counted down past three minutes.  I yawned and inhaled one of the tiny flies floating gracefully above the trash.
